Did you know that Cherry Preschool offers a Dual Language Spanish-English preschool class? A couple spaces are still available for the 2017-18 school year. The class is for three and four year olds and will meet M-Th from 12:35-3:05 p.m. for the 2017-18 school year. The class is co-taught by two teachers – an English speaking teacher and a bilingual Spanish speaking teacher in the Red room. The curriculum, daily schedule, and everything else is the same as our other classes but the children have the experience of being exposed to both Spanish and English in our natural and nurturing, play-based environment. As more and more children participate in Two-Way-Immersion classes in elementary school and take foreign language enrichment classes, it makes sense to provide an early childhood version that is developmentally-appropriate. In addition, for children who are native Spanish speakers, this class helps to preserve the child’s home language while providing an opportunity to learn English in a comfortable setting. For Evanston families considering TWI in elementary school, this class would prepare children for that experience in a gentle, Cherry-like fashion.
